Rebuilding UK Manufacturing – 2nd March 2011

UK Manufacturing Summit

Just a few years ago, it was felt that the UK needed to plan for a post-industrial economy; one based on finance. But after a period of enormous economic change, within the UK and the wider world, manufacturing has never been more important.

The inaugural Manufacturing Summit took place in March 2010 with the aim of promoting and discussing the Future of UK Manufacturing. As the country prepared for a general election, UK manufacturers had the opportunity to hear from and to question key speakers from industry, government, politics, economics and industry associations – the people who were set to impact the future of the sector. The aim was simple: make sure whichever party emerged victorious understood and were committed to the importance of manufacturing.

12 months later and with the coalition government firmly in place, the Manufacturing Summit has returned to discuss the next step Rebuilding UK Manufacturing. Not just corporately as a nation, but individually within manufacturing businesses.

Created in partnership with Engineering The Future, IET, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, The ERA Foundation and Findlay Media, the Manufacturing Summit brings together leading keynote speakers, a “Question Time” panel and a selection of practical discussion forums which offer a wealth of valuable content for anyone with an investment in UK manufacturing.
